The Liaison Forum provides a formal means of dialogue between the Relevant Authorities Group and local community interests and sectoral interests. Formal meetings are called as and when required. Since the publication of the management scheme in 2008, in practice most liaisons have occurred on an individual or sectoral basis. The Liaison Forum however still provides an important mechanism whereby all interests can come together and look at the site’s overall issues and needs; cross-sectoral dialogue is especially useful in the marine environment where multiple activities take place and no one authority has absolute responsibility.
